The tenth World Coastal Rowing Championships has been a blast! Our crews brought home 56% of the total medals.
5 Gold medals (CW4x for GRE, CM4x for ITA, CW2x for RUS, CM2x for HUN and CM1x for ITA), 3 Silver (CW4x for ITA, CM4x for ITA and CM2x for MON) and 2 Bronze (CW4x GER and CM2x ITA).
For the first time the World Rowing Coastal Championships took place on a lake instead of the sea. Even though the waters of Lake Geneva can often be rough and challenging, it welcomed the crews with flat water and a stunning view to the Alps and Mont Blanc. The conditions were smooth with sunshine and mild temperatures. Italy got more medals than any other nation (5) in front of Greece, Ukraine, Hungary and Russia that have one gold each each.
We were particularly happy for the GOLD medal for the CM1x of Simone Martini that is now World Champion 2017 and also Italian Champion for Coastal Rowing 2017 and 2016. Simone and our technicians worked together, almost 6 years ago, to one of the first F80 mould that is the same model with which he triumphed in both championships.
