A wonderful edition that confirms SilverSkiff as a much loved and followed event and increasingly international!
637 members of the race who came to Turin from around the world to attend the XXVI edition of SilverSkiff. Kissed in the sunshine in the splendid location of the Valentino Park, the classic regatta reserved for singles has always been played on the 11km of the Po river stretch from Cerea’s headquarters to the Moncalieri island and return.
This year, for the fourth consecutive year was the Croatian, double champion Martin Sinkovic, who busted last year’s success and won the trophy with the time of 40’19 “70, just over a second from records of the two-time Olympic champion Mahe Drysdale (New Zealand), which this year ranked 13th. Silver medal for the other brother Sinkovic, Valent, winner of the 2015 edition, who accused the goal of a nearly two seconds off, while Swiss third place is Michael Schmid.
The first of the Italians, and the winner of the Trofeo Vitale – Baima Poma, the returning Francesco Fossi (Fiamme Gialle), finished the race in sixth place in front of three other Azzurri, Stefano Oppo (seventh), Lorenzo Galano (eighth) and Gabriel Soares (ninth).
In the female field is the Ukrainian Diana Dymchenko to triumph.
Diana after coming second last year, this year’s edition was based on the two lightweight blacks: Valentina Rodini and Federica Cesarini, while the other blue Kiri Tontodonati finished the race in fourth place.
