A strong opening day on Lake Varese

The regatta began with a strong Filippi presence throughout the preliminary racing. Boats built in Donoratico won 23 races during the opening day, while 33 Filippi crews secured places in the first series of finals.

The event took place exactly one month before the World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, offering national teams an important opportunity to assess their preparation ahead of the main international appointment of the season.

24 medals in the first day of finals

The first finals session produced 24 medals for crews racing in Filippi boats: six gold, nine silver and nine bronze.

Romania won the men’s and women’s pairs, while Italy claimed both lightweight double sculls titles. Serbia took gold in the men’s double sculls, and the Individual Neutral Athletes won the women’s double sculls.

These results demonstrated the broad Filippi presence across different nations and disciplines, from sweep rowing to sculling and lightweight events.

Nine European titles in the closing session

Despite a delayed and condensed programme caused by adverse weather, the closing day delivered another full schedule of high-level racing on Lake Varese.

Filippi boats won nine of the eleven European titles awarded during the session. Romania delivered an outstanding series of performances, taking gold in the men’s eight, women’s eight, mixed double sculls and mixed eight.

By the end of the Championships, the official Filippi tally had reached 48 medals: 15 gold, 15 silver and 18 bronze.

The Performance Front Wing range presented in Varese

The European Championships also provided an opportunity to present two models from the Filippi Performance Front Wing range at the Italian Rowing Federation’s Italian Rowing Hub.

The F40 coxless four and the F17 double scull, both equipped with the new monolithic front wing rigger, were introduced to Italian officials and international representatives during the opening day of the event.

The presentation offered athletes, coaches and federations a closer look at the latest development of the Filippi Performance configuration.

Towards the World Rowing Championships

The results achieved in Varese once again reflect the trust that athletes, coaches and national federations continue to place in Filippi boats across every level of international rowing.

Congratulations to all the crews who competed at the 2026 European Rowing Championships, and thank you to the Varese Organising Committee and the Italian Rowing Federation for delivering a memorable event.

The international season now moves towards the World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam.
