Filippi had a phenomenal weekend at the 2025 Head of the Charles both on and off the water. In breathtaking conditions under the Bostonian sunshine, hundreds of crews took to the world-famous Charles course, many of whom raced in Filippi shells to great levels of success. On the bank, and for the very first time, Filippi brought a full team from global headquarters in Italy to support our customers in their every need and requirement to maximise speed and comfort on the water. Our service area, ideally located with its own boating bay, saw dozens of athletes receive the outstanding support that Filippi has become renowned for. We were also grateful for the fantastic assistance of Fabio and Alex Selvig at Elite Rowing, Filippi’s official US dealer.
On the water, we recorded a series of impressive results, including several category wins. USRowing – who partner with Filippi to provide world-class racing shells to their senior team – were winners of the women’s championship eight category in our hull, finishing 22 seconds clear of the field. The crew contained three of the four athletes who won gold in Shanghai at the 2025 World Rowing Championships in the coxless four (Kaitlin Knifton, Teal Cohen and Azja Czajkowski). The crew was steered by Nina Castagna, who coxed the US women’s eight to fifth at the 2025 World Rowing Championships.
The Irish men’s national team had a hugely successful weekend in Boston, collecting both the men’s championship double and Directors' Challenge men's quads. Fresh from a bronze at the 2025 World Rowing Championships in the same boat class, Phil Doyle and Olympic champion Fintan McCarthy blitzed through the field to take the win by 15 seconds over the Manson brothers from New Zealand, who also raced in a Filippi.
In the Directors’ Challenge men’s quads, Phil and Fintan were joined by Olympic bronze medallist Daire Lynch and U23 world champion Konan Pazzaia to triumph by 36 seconds.
We also collected a couple of notable second-place finishes, including Michelle Sechser, who was a second back on Olympic champion Karolien Florjin. Sechser, who won this event in 2024 on home water, is the reigning world champion in the women’s lightweight single and a two-time Olympian in the women’s lightweight double.
On the men’s side, Martin Sinkovic made the trip over to Boston to test his mettle after he collected the men’s double title alongside his brother, Valent, in 2024. The legendary Croatian finished second, 12 seconds back on Finn Hamill but clear of a field of athletes including Logan Ullrich, Eliot Putnam, Sam Melvin and Konan Pazzaia.
There were undoubtedly many more fantastic Filippi results in a race that continues to enthrall and enchant in its beauty and competitiveness. At Filippi, we had a fantastic week supporting and enabling athletes to perform at their very best and thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many customers. Our focus is on creating the very best product for everyone who uses our shells and only be collecting feedback, meeting and listening to customers and implementing those changes can we maintain our position as the world’s premier boatbuilder.
We are already looking forward to 2026, where Filippi will return with a larger presence, more space and more service for all of our customers!
